This was terrific experience! The accommodations exceeded my expectations for refugios and the meals were quite good, particularly the dinners. Transportation and logistics were as smooth as variable terrain and wind speeds in excess of 90 km might allow. Advance printed materials were accurate and useful.
The hiking and working components were accurately described in the predeparture materials, and the variety of work that needed to be done could accommodate people throughout a range of physical conditions. I appreciated having the opportunity to do real work cutting new trail and removing rock, not just doing light trail maintenance. The only strenuous hike was an optional trek to the base of the towers.
Both Gene and Chris were consummate trip leaders. Their knowledge and expertise were evident, and they were always stressing safety first when working with tools. They also asked how everyone was feeling before we began a day and when we finished. People knew, also, that they could speak with them in private, if necessary. What I appreciated most was their ability to demonstrate a task to be done, and then their willingness to let "amateurs" find the efficient way to carry out the task rather than micromanaging

Totally awesome trip! Sights, culture and experience very worthwhile. Trip leadership outstanding. Great bunch of friendly and energetic volunteers. Volunteer work was rewarding, knowing it helps restore and preserve the Inca culture. Hard to imagine how it could have been better, except to be longer.
By volunteering, I was able to contribute to the restoration and preservation of the great Inca culture and ruins, instead of just being a tourist to witness it. I fell in love with the sights, people and culture of Peru.
