A few perks but a bit of a let down...

Although I was warned beforehand that scheduled work may change at short notice, I thought that 3 weeks would involve at least one more worthwhile experience. However, I ended up staying in Darwin, in the hostel, for my whole time there apart from one night and did the majority of my work a 5 minute walk from where I was staying, therefore spending even more time in the city. Many of the working days were also cancelled at short notice so instead of the 15 days I thought I would be working for I only ended up working for 8 of them (5 at the Government house, not the most exciting experience...). This meant I was also forced to spend more money than intended once I was there in order to make something of all of my free days. Darwin being an expensive city also meant that the $80 per week food allowance didn't stretch very far. If you are lucky I think you can get on some really good projects there but for some reason that just didn't happen for me.

It was a good experience

It was a good experience in conservation however it got very samey as we pulled weeds and planted trees for the whole 6 weeks but meeting new people and seeing the different habitats was amazing. Just there needs be some variations in the work we do and maybe some more teaching experience.

My favorite part was meeting people with a similar interest as you.

This program affected my life by gaining more experience in conservation.
