Connect-123 offers a variety of people and service oriented internships in Cape Town, South Africa and allows for students to work in the areas that best match their interests and skills. In the past, interns have had opportunities that include assisting with childhood literacy projects, working as a teachers assistant, leading life skills workshops, assisting with sports programs, putting together youth career expos, researching educational policy, and contributing to the overall operations of education programs. More social work-focused internships may involve psycho-social screenings at a refugee case center, carrying out macro-level observations during child-led household home visits, working with homeless people and drug users, caring for infants and toddlers at orphanages, and working with young people focusing on issues related to HIV/AIDS, sexuality and adolescence.
