  • Description

Casa do Caminho is an orphanage situated in a beautiful rural area near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We aim to take children away from aggression, drugs & criminality in Rio and surrounding suburbs. We provide the children we care for with shelter, nutrition, education and a lot of freedom to play.

We are currently looking for a volunteer to lead our IT project. The IT project is a crucial part of our efforts to help the children and adolescents grow and change the course of their lives. Gaining computer skills can increase the children's confidence, open up to them new sources of information, and, most importantly, make them more competitive candidates for jobs later on in life.

There is also significant demand for IT courses in the local community, both among youth and adults. Depending on the individual students needs and interests, these courses may focus on anything from basic computer literacy to computer maintenance.

As the IT expert at Casa do Caminho you will have the following key responsibilities:

    * Offer computer courses to Casa do Caminho residents and the local community.
    * Maintain the IT infrastructure of three different houses (orphanage and teenager houses)
    * Extend and improve the existing IT project
    * Develop new ideas to optimize the means of communication of Casa do Caminho, i.e. set up a Voice over IP project.

Besides your key responsibilities, new projects are always welcome to be set up! Moreover, the IT expert will have the opportunity to be involved in other projects at Casa do Caminho.
