  • Description

Casa do Caminho is an orphanage and community center that possesses a small organic farm where we produce fruits and vegetables. We also possess a small chicken and fish farm. Over last year, three of the teenagers from our orphanage participated in the project three days a week, learning how to grow organic produce, acquiring greater responsibility and job skills, and raising their self-confidence. We are currently looking for long-time replacement (minimum of 2 years) to take over the work of the farm's project leader. We are looking for someone who is interested in further developing the project and including the children and teenagers in the project. The first 3 months will serve as a trial period, to ensure the candidate's skills are appropriate for the position and that they are able to adapt to working with our community, the children and teenagers. The organic farming teacher will receive a minimum wage of R USD 517, accommodation and food. When the organic farm begins to make a profit from the sale of its produce within the community, the project leader will also receive a percentage of this profit.

Long term objectives of the project:
    - Provide quality food for the children and teenagers
    - Provide farming education to children and teenagers
    - Make the project self-sustaining and guarantee continuity
    - Pass on knowledge to the surrounding impoverished farmers

    Who are we?
