The Casa do Caminho orphanage has more than 4 buildings. The orphanage's electric system is really bad. The electric system of the complete orphanage needs to be reinstalled. We require assistance in:
1. Accessing the current situation and advising what is needed to improve the electrical system.
2. Step by step redoing the whole system.
3. Ensuring someone in Casa do Caminho is able to continue the work once you are done.
Besides the electrical part the volunteer will have plenty of time to spend with our children.
Working with Brazilian staff and volunteers around the world towards ideal goals in the middle of nature. It will be an intense period where you will have to be able to deal with the limitations of a third world country and an orphanage full with children that miss the basics in social and formal education. It is incredibly rewarding if you can make a difference to our program.
We need an experienced electrician who:
* is willing to work within 6 months - 2 years volunteer period
* has basic Portuguese skills
* likes to train one or two of our teenagers to install electrics

Casa do Caminho is an orphanage situated in a rural town near a rainforest, outside of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Our mission is to help and take in children and adolescents in vulnerable social situations; to stimulate their development in fraternal cohabitation with nature while offering social, cultural, vocational, and sports programs; to promote the psychosocial restructurization of the family, and ultimately to facilitate the reintegration of this population into their families and society at the appropriate time.
