The College of St. Scholastica is an independent, coeducational, comprehensive college offering over 50 undergraduate majors (programs) in the liberal arts and sciences. The College offers especially popular programs in the health sciences, management, psychology, mathematics, computer information, and the traditional liberal arts and humanities. Master's programs, doctoral programs and certificates/licensures are also available through Graduate Studies.
The College's forested campus is situated on a bluff overlooking the city of Duluth, providing a panoramic view of Lake Superior. The picturesque Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, two hours driving distance to the north, offers kayaking, canoeing, skiing, sailing, and hiking in a tranquil and environmentally rich setting.
The College of St. Scholastica is the only independent private college in northeastern Minnesota.
The College was founded in 1912 by a group of pioneering Benedictine Sisters who offered college courses to six young women. Today St. Scholastica educates more than 2,600 men and women and has graduated more than 10,000 alumni. St. Scholastica is ranked in the top tier by US News and World Report. The College offers a range of health sciences including pre-med, an engineering program in cooperation with the University of Minnesota's Institute of Technology, management, computer information science, education and international studies.
