Coexistence in the Middle East

The course was an opportunity to broaden my perspective of the conflict, both in terms of its complexity and its place within the regional context of the Middle East. It has helped to ground my academic research in real interactions with diplomats, civil leaders, journalists, and local populations. Lastly, I have a much richer appreciation for the diversity of narratives framing the Israeli Palestinian conflict, and the central role that history, land, and religious identity play in each.
The program is a unique opportunity for students to engage with prominent religious leaders that cannot be readily found elsewhere. I certainly appreciated the insider perspectives that were afforded by discussing aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the lens of religious belief and practice.
Its a great program, don't hesitate to apply!

Hebrew University offers amazing summer courses. I participated in the Coexistence Program and it was one of the best experiences of my life. It was the first time that I lived on my own so I was able to learn a lot about myself and gain independence. The staff and program coordinators are very supported and always made sure we were all ok and enjoying our experience there.
What sets this program apart from any other, is that you will be able to learn about the conflict where it takes place, from experts that are very involved in negotiations (Gershon Baskin was one of my professors there).
The best part of the program however, are the trips. You get to experience your learning and not just from the textbook. Coexistence organizes amazing visits all over the country so that participants can truly gain an idea of what the conflict is all about, from UN officials, to Diplomats and Academics, you won't be disappointed.
And in all of these trips, you get to enjoy Israel, we went to the desert, the North border and the dead sea, all of them were great trips that were even more fun because of the amazing people I got to share this experience with!
