* Semester and Academic Year Programs:
Contemporary Japan is a land of intrigue, and a country that marries its ancient traditions with modern culture to create one of the most fascinating cultures in the world. Enjoy this beautiful mix of old and new during your study abroad session, immersing yourself into everything Japanese. Share in a traditional tea ceremony, explore the popular world of anime, and discover why Japan has the indelible reputation for producing the world's most advanced technology. Your multi-day orientation includes sightseeing in Tokyo and cultural activities. Enroll directly in a Japanese Kotogakko (high school) and participate fully in an academic program conducted in Japanese. Students must demonstrate basic written and oral communication skills in Japanese to participate in the semester and/or academic year program.
* Summer Program:
On the summer program, spend three weeks in July participating in daily intensive language instruction while exploring Tokyo's clash of history and innovation with excursions guided by CIEE staff. Form friendships with classmates while living at the National Youth Center located in the heart of Tokyo. No prior language study is required for the summer program.
