  • Description

Study the theory and practice of photography with an expert mentor while living in a city that radiates beauty and thrives in the arts. Students on this program take advantage of individualized instruction and a wide range of resources from the prestigious photo department of FAMU.

The Photography in Prague program is ideal for intermediate and advanced photography students who want to immerse themselves in their studies while living in one of the world's most fascinating and artistic cities. During the course of the 20th Century, the Czech avant-garde photographic movement rivaled Germany's Bauhaus for inspiration and innovation throughout the photographic world.

In keeping with this reputation at the forefront of creative photography, the CET faculty invites students to explore photography as a medium of both artistic and technical expression. From art history to alternative photographic methods such as platinum and palladium printing, students explore the form and the function of the photographic medium. The program is headed by Miroslav Vojtchovský, an award-winning photographer and photography educator. The program is rounded out with elective courses taught by experts at the photography department of FAMU, the Film and Television School of the Academy of Performing Arts. Students leave the program with a broader photography portfolio and an expanded understanding of the historic and philosophical undertones of photography. This program is available every spring and fall semester.
