I recommend this program to anyone considering it

I found the internship program at the center for capacity and sustainable development Peru while searching for study abroad programs in Latin America. The projects and activities looked great on paper, but when I arrived the experience was even better than I expected. All the travel arrangements made by the directors went smoothly. Upon arrival, the property was beautiful, and the accommodations were comfortable. I had a hard time choosing between the many interesting projects, but I eventually settled on the vermicompost design project. I learned a lot about the benefits and various models of vermicompost systems by studying materials provided by the directors. In one month the field supervisor and I completed four vermicompost systems, and a large roof structure to house the systems. All the supervisors are friendly and enjoyable to work with. Also, I highly recommend participating in a home-stay in Tsachopen a nearby native community. I really enjoyed the four days I spent there. Finally, the optional weekend activities were really fun. I would absolutely recommend this program to anyone considering it.

I loved my experience with CDS!

I interned with CDS for a month in Peru and I had an amazing experience. You are in the high Amazon jungle, so it is BEAUTIFUL and there are hiking trails and a cute town near by. It is a very community based program, you are camping next to and eating with other volunteers/interns, the program directors and all the other employees every day. Lunches are cooked for everyone, but breakfast, dinners and cleanup are a group effort so you really get to know everyone you are working with. The two directors, Flor and Fede, along with all the other employees, are incredible. They are all so caring and passionate about the work they do. Some of the projects going on are terraced gardens, a green house garden, reforestation, solar water heaters, and frog research among many others. Their goals are to reuse and recycle everything and they have many creative uses for recycled materials around the property. They have a hydroelectric system and have so many wonderful project ideas that will continue to make this place more and more self sustaining. Flor and Fede got me so excited about the work they are doing and they really made me feel at home here, I can't wait to visit again someday!!
