Summer 2013
The Summer in Spain Program is a study abroad program for Christian undergraduate students that combines 9-credits of academic coursework with field-based experiential learning in Seville, Spain and Morocco. The program is being sponsored by the Center for Faith & Global Education in partnership with the International College of Seville (ICS), the University of Seville, and the Al-Andalus Theological Seminary.
The 6-week program will include three 3-credit courses conducted at the University of Seville combined with educational excursions in the Seville area and field trips to Cordoba, and Granada. An additional 5-day guided tour of several key cultural centers of Morocco will supplement and enrich the coursework and allow the participants to gain first-hand experience with the realities of a North-African Islamic society.
Students will also have the opportunity to learn about the history and current state of Christianity in Andalusia through a special seminar given at a nearby Christian seminary and by meeting with members of local student ministries. Finally, students will be able to apply new intercultural servant-leadership skills during a volunteer service project with a Christian ministry or community service organization.
