  • Description

Welcome to Lisbon, one of the most fascinating city of Europe. In the heart of this pearl stands Santa Catarina, a very typical and quiet neighbourhood, just 5 minuts walking distance from Bairro Alto and Chiado.

It's in this neighbourhood that we live and invite you to discover our Bed & Breakfast with our 7 en-suite guestrooms or our 3 apartments in the above street.

Our 7 guestrooms, one of them with 2 double guestrooms and one for 3 guests have all private bathroom, air conditionning, Cable TV and wireless internet. Full breakfasts with homemade specialties can be taken in our open air patio and our terrasse is at your disposal for enjoying Lisbon's evening.

2 apartments are on the same floor (4th floor) of the same building and have one bedroom + one sofa-bed in the living-room. They have a fantastic view over Tagus river, 25th of April Bridge, Parliament and Basilica. They are all furnished and have air conditionning. Rented separately, they have 2 to 4 sleeps each. Rented together, they are the perfect place for up to 8 guests.

Our 3rd apartment, also in the same street, has 3 small bedrooms and has a very nice view above old city and Basilica of Estrela. It is also all furnished and has air conditioning. As it's quite small, it's a perfect place for 4 guests but it can accomodate up to 6 guests.

BY TAXI (PRINT THOSE DIRECTIONS, YOU'LL NEED IT)
Unfortunately some of Lisbon’s taxi-drivers are not the best advertisement for the city. They tend not to be aggressive but they do like to take advantage of first time visitors. Here are a few indications to arrive with no trouble.

At Lisbon airport, there are 2 taxi areas, one for tourists and one for locals and you’ll get a better price and more courtesy if you choose the right one - as the “tourist” one tends to attract a more dishonest type of driver, looking for tourists to rip off tourists

To go to the "locals" area, go right on leaving the baggage hall, then walk 100 metres and take the escalator to gate 1 to 13 in the Departures area. Go straight out the door and take one of the cabs in this area.

Bairro Alto and Bica apartments and Casa do Bairro B&B are in the centre of Lisbon where only cars that belong to residents and taxis can enter.

Taxis MUST leave you in front of the door and there is no excuse not to. Should your driver not wish to, tell him that you won't pay and say you will call the police (POLICIA) and he should immediately change his mind.

The fare shouldn’t be more than 12€ (maximum price including night rate + luggage, 8-9€ during the day). You should refuse to pay anything more.

Always ask for a receipt (FACTURA) and check that it is valid (correct registration number).

We don’t mean to frighten you with all of this, quite the opposite, Lisbon is a fantastic city and very safe. But we all must fight those con-artists who like to prey on visitors. Have a nice trip.
