Our boutique hostel is a cut above the rest. We offer services and facilities equivalent to some of the boutique hotels in the area, but at hostel prices. Before being a hostel this colonial style casa was a family home and we really like to keep that family feel in the house. We are one of only two hostels actually located in El Centro Cartagena. You can step out our front door and find yourself immersed in the cities culture and diversity, with hundreds of bars and restaurants offering flavors from all over the world. Come relax and experience Cartagena in style and comfort.
Casa de la Chicheria is a luxurious open plan house, located in the most exclusive part of Cartagena. It is a colonial house with modern facilities where you can enjoy the rooftop terrace or relax by the pool. It has a fully equipped kitchen and bbq area that is the perfect setting for a dinner party with your friends or the other guests. All bedrooms are air-conditioned to ensure your comfort on Cartagena's balmy nights.
We offer our guests exclusive access to activities including wake boarding lessons with a professional, private catamaran charter cruises, and access to a privately owned casa on the Rosario Islands.
We also offer tours run by local tour companies including charters to San Blas Panama, a ride on the famous Chiva (party) buses, city tours, and day trips to Playa Blanca or the volcano where you can pamper yourself in the mud baths renowned for their therapeutic and beauty benefits.

From the Airport:
The airport is located about 3km northeast of the old city. There are taxis right out front of the terminal which charge approximatly 15,000. A short walk out of the terminal and to your right will bring you to the main street where you can caught a taxi for 5,000 to 7,000. Here you can also caught local buses for less than 2,000- just ask them to drop you off on the main road (Avenida Santanda) near Theatro de Heredia. Walk through the city wall - you should see the Theatro on the right and the hostel is located about half a block down on the left side.
From the Bus Terminal:
The terminal is located on the eastern outskirts of the city and depending on traffic is about half hour to an hour away. Taxis from the terminal to the old city cost about 11,000. There are also large green and red MetroCar buses that head to the city every 20 mins or so for 1,700. They will drop you off at the India Catalina monument and our hostel is about a 10 min walk west into El Centro. Turn west down Portobelo, walk 6 blocks down, and turn right on to Chicheria. We are located about half way down the block on the right.
