CAPA International Education

Dramatic is the personal growth that comes along with undertaking the challenge of living and working in a big, unfamiliar city. Certainly I have a greater consciousness of what it means to be American and how our culture is unique but not exceptional. British attitudes in general seem to be more relaxed, especially in the workplace - there's so much more stress and extroversion of opinion here. With a new sense of global citizenship, I've taken up the habit of reading the newspaper. In myself I've noticed a much greater tolerance for chaos, an adaptation I am reluctantly grateful to my former flat mates for. Of course, any traveling experience forces you to realize the things that are truly necessary and meaningful in life; I have developed intuitively a sense that the things that happen to people are not good or bad - they are opportunities to open your mind and learn more about yourself, and in doing so, the world around you. Being abroad is not an experience that allows you to respond simply to people who ask "how was it?". So often it was amazing, great, beautiful, exciting - but it was also challenging, terrifying, frustrating. In the long run, every single moment was necessary and good because it has made me a better, more conscious, less anxious person. Survival is a huge confidence booster that prepares you for challenges ahead because it liberates you from the fear of failure. CAPA facilitates all of this - the balance of providing resources but also letting you figure things out on your own is perfect. The staff are all excellent at their jobs, super supportive and approachable. My only small complaint is that the classes were not as challenging as they are at my home university. The internship program run by CAPA is fantastic; they match you well and are extremely supportive. You really get to know everyone on the CAPA team, Americans and Brits alike. They even lead walking tours in the area of the city where they live and know well.

I have to say that participating in the CAPA London England program was truly the best decision I could have made for my study abroad experience. Not only was the staff helpful and ready to aid in my concerns but also warm and friendly. There was not a time that I did not know who I could go to for help and someone would be there every step of the way. In addition the CAPA building was fresh, exciting and a positive learning experience. Where else could I have the opportunity to do an internship and take classes at the same time. I certainly got great career and hands-on work experience that will aid me in a future career. I even am still working for the company part-time while I am home. Aside from the education and friendly nature, being in London itself was a dream. Getting to walk down Kensington High Street, take a stroll in Hyde Park, meet celebrities, or even take in a show in Leicester Square every day was unbelievable. The memories, friends and effect that CAPA had on my study abroad experience will stay with me forever.

CAPA was a great study abroad program to work with in London. I had the time of my life and participatd in a great experience. The staff was amazing and very helpful in every aspect of the program. I would definitly recommend this abroad program to other students because I got the experience of a lifetime!

I believe CAPA was an extremely friendly and helpful group of people that made it very comfortable to go and talk to them about any issues I was having. This internship was exactly what I wanted and was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. CAPA was an amazing program that made my experience of being in London very rewarding. It wasn't just going to school in a foreign country but CAPA made it so much more of a greater experience.

CAPA was a great opportunity to really live in London. It is amazing how quickly this city becomes home and the amount of things you can do right outside your door. There is never a dull day, there is always something to do or see. Sleep before you come because while you are here, you will never want to go to bed!

I was amazed by the professional and friendly behavior of all the staff. I enjoyed My Education events as I thought they added to my experience in London by providing news and events that would have been unknown to me otherwise. I enjoyed everything that CAPA had to offer. I felt that everything was organized wonderfully and I am very, very happy with the experience that CAPA provided me with.

I had a great study abroad experience. CAPA provided just enough support while still leaving plenty of time for students to explore London or other travel destinations on their own. My internship was a perfect match for me and this was also a great experience. The ME activities provided a great opportunity for students to get to know the London better culturally, which can be difficult when living in a new, unfamiliar city, especially when we only have a short amount of time there. There were a nice variety of activities. I would definitely recommend CAPA as a study abroad institution - overall, I had an amazing experience in London and CAPA has much to do with it. My experience studying abroad with CAPA's internship in Beijing program was beneficial to me in ways I cannot even name. CAPA's personnel provided me with the preparation that I needed to succeed in a foreign land. The internship available to me was not only challenging, but also fun. Working in Beijing for the summer exposed me to insights on international business I wouldn't have been able to obtain elsewhere.

I am so glad CAPA includes everything in the initial tuition. By lumping everything into one price, I did not have to worry about money at all once I arrived in London, and I think that was a fantastic thing! Between my classes, internship, and general living situation, I learned so much about British culture. Not only did I get a taste of London life--I was immersed in it. Especially having an internship, I interacted with locals and got a clear idea of what it would be like to actually live in London. I would recommend this program to anyone thinking of studying abroad. It was so well put on, and I had a very smooth transition while adjusting to living in London because of CAPA. The program has given me the traveling bug and inspired me to go everywhere in the world, and possibly even end up in London. I loved the program and city so much!

My CAPA internship was more than just an immersion into a new culture and a chance to try new things. I learned useful skills that helped me through my master's program and made me much more marketable in the job recruiting process. Now I have my dream job and I owe it to my wonderful experiences with CAPA! This was the opportunity of a lifetime.

My co-workers at my internships were very supportive of me- they understood that I was still adjusting to some things and were patient. They took me in under their wing and helped me fully integrate myself into my new Aussie life. They were wonderful!

CAPA provides a well-structured program which allows students to have freedom to explore on their own while still having guidence if needed.

CAPA allowed me to be more competitive in the job market by giving me international experience. CAPA allowed me to study and work abroad, to utilize the knowledge from class into the workplace. The internship also helped me decide my career path and the type of industry I might be interested in. CAPA offers a great opportunity to study and work in locations outside of the country. Today, in this job market, it is important to be marketable with skills that differ from other peers. CAPA offers the way to gain international experience and remain marketable.

Choosing to participate in the CAPA summer session was honestly the best decision I ever made. I came away from my experience abroad with so many enhanced skills, friends and memories that really will last me a lifetime. I already miss being in London and can't wait to travel there again!

The CAPA Team was really understanding about things, and it was nice to be able to go to someone without being embarrassed about a question that seemed so simple. They knew so much about the city too, which seems obvious coming from people who live there, but it was nice to talk to someone who knew what they were talking about and made things seem easier. It was a relief to have travel passes included in the program. For only being six weeks I learned so much in my European Politics class with Professor Fosdal. He opened my eyes to a lot of things going on. I really enjoyed the Jack the Ripper tour, and I know we didn't need to be in CAPA to do that, but it was nice to have everything reserved for us. It also showed me a side of London that I probably wouldn't have gone to otherwise because I didn't know what was over there. I learned so much while studying in London - it opened my eyes to a lot.

My Education gave me great ideas for different things to do on the weekends and it kept me informed on events occurring around London. I went to curry night at Brick Lane and it was wonderful! I tried food that I probably wouldn't have tried on my own and I ended up loving it and experimenting with other foods!

I found the facilities to be very nice, clean and welcoming. I greatly appreciated both the stipend and the travel pass. I thought CAPA did a phenomenal job in making the time abroad run smoothly. I found all members of the CAPA staff to be incredible. They were all immensely helpful, friendly and informative.

I gained a lot of valuable work experience and I also experienced what it is like for people to live, work and go to school in another country. It is a priceless opportunity. I loved my placement. I was very sad to leave the internship and really hope that the next person that is placed there will enjoy them as much as I did. Keep up all of the hard work, it was an amazing program and an awesome experience.

CAPA was a great resource for us as interns, knowing that we are doing a lot on our own but can have them as backup. They were easy to talk with and helped with any issues that came up in a respectable manner. I would recommend students going through CAPA in Sydney.

The accommodations were great; it made integrating with the culture a lot less stressful. The stipends and travel passes were a lot of help and became a necessity. The excursions where a lot of fun and really showed us the true part of Sydney. The staff did a great job. They set me up with a great internship and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had the best experience possible. I do not think they could have done more than they did to make our experience amazing. My internship was great. The people were very accepting and I learned a lot. It challenged me and I grew as a person while I was working there. I would recommend this place for future interns, especially those interested in marketing. Everything was amazing. I am going to remember this experience forever and I really appreciate all that everyone has done for me in this program. I will recommend this program to anyone!

I gained so much from doing the CAPA program in Florence. Learning about the history and art where it happened and where it was made brought a new depth to the classes. Not only did I get to take highly engaging courses but I learned a lot about my own abilities to adapt to new places, experiences and challenges. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am glad I took it. I will carry the experiences I had with me throughout my life and will always learn from those same experiences. Study abroad does not only offer the opportunity to learn courses in an enriched environment but also to learn lessons about yourself and your abilities. I will always consider myself to have a little Florentine blood in me because my time in Florence has shaped as much as the rest of my heritage has. I do not regret a moment of my time spent in the CAPA program. I will always be able to look back on my experiences and smile.

CAPA's internship placement has provided me with an unbelievable opportunity to experience the professional side of my field while exposing me to the many challenges and joys of living and working in a foreign country. I would suggest CAPA to any student simply because of the internship opportunity. Wonderful experience all around! I will be returning to London in the fall of 2010 to continue a project I started in my internship.
