Calder Classics offers customized learning experience abroad in Latin and Art/Ancient History. Calder Classics brings high school-aged students to Florence, Italy; Rome, Italy; and Avignon, France for 10-day and 2-week Latin, culture, and art history programs.
Our programs are directed for students aged 14-18 who want to improve their Latin language skills via an interdisciplinary experience abroad.
During your stay in any of our locations, the day-to-day schedule will consist of Latin and cultural immersion, with days off for excursions outside of the city to historical sites.
In the mornings on our 2-week Rome, Florence, and Avignon trips, we will engage with Latin, practicing our translation and comprehension skills. In the afternoons, we will set out into the city, exploring the cultural treasures and experiencing the legacy of Latin first-hand.
During our 10-day Florence trip, we will spend mornings and afternoons learning Latin grammar and vocabulary in preparation for reading the great authors of Latin literature.
All programs will feature daily explorations of the city, as we sample local cuisines and appreciate the beautiful art and history of the region. Through an interaction with local buildings, monuments and art, students will deepen their understanding of Latin literature and develop a lifelong appreciation of the Classics.
