One of the goals of this project is to raise consciousness among people, at national and international level, about preservation, protection and rescue of the population of marine turtles in the Mexican coastal line. In the project we have a very interesting situation since from the eight existing species of marine turtles in the world, seven arrive in Mexico and two of them nest in our working zone: the Golfina turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) and the Laud turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), both endangered species. These exchanges promote an incredible working and cultural exchange experience.

To ensure the marine turtles' permanence in the area, the volunteers will carry out actions focused in protecting the females, who arrive to lay down their eggs, and their nests, through making brigades to collect eggs and bringing them to the camping, making sure that the female is going back to the sea. They will be also in charge of putting the eggs into incubators, carrying out a register of statistical data (looking out at the nests and registering survival data) and liberating the baby turtles.

Volunteers will also help to build a yard for protecting turtles and their eggs. The group will have the opportunity of carry out different ecological activities such as collecting and recycling rubbish and waste in the area and taking care of the environment through different actions.
