Mexico
Share |

Location
Mexico: Cancun

Program Duration
2-4 weeks

Dates
July 14 - July 30

  • Description

Last year the community of Cheyumil was well impressed by the presence of a group of volunteers who was working there for a day, so the community proposed to host a group of volunteers this year with the purpose of creating summer workshops in which children and young people could learn from international volunteers different subjects such as recycling waste, languages (English, French, Italian, etc), arts, painting, dances, to contribute to develop they personal skills and to achieve an intercultural exchange, contributing at the same time to the social welfare.

The volunteers will be organizing workshops according to their abilities and interests: language courses (English, French, Italian, etc.), painting courses, dance courses and handcrafts workshops (using recycled materials). They will be giving courses to a group composed for up to 40 children, so they could work in two or three groups to integrate the children in activities in which they can develop their skills and abilities. They will also organize two cleaning campaigns (one per week) within the community to increase the environmental awareness.
