Paestum is part of the Capaccio municipality in the province of Salerno and is 43 km from Naples. The archaeological site of Paestum is located in an area between the mouth of the River Sele and the Licosa promontory. Its inland boundaries are the River Calore and the Alburni mountains.
The amazing National Archaeological Museum of Paestum, located across the road to the east of the Greek temples, displays Greek and Roman artifacts from Paestum and the local area. Its most famous exhibits are rare Greek tomb frescoes from the 5th and 4th centuries BC.
Volunteers will collaborate with a local environmental group working on several projects. The work will be varied but its aim will be to maintain and improve the area. Work could include footpath maintenance, putting up stiles and fences, beach cleaning, education activities, general maintenance work or more specific project work according to the needs.
