  • Description

    The volunteer project will take place in a small community, where the establishment of an Eco Village is on progress. During the project, volunteers will be involved in the following activities:

    - Taking classes in African/Tanzanian drumming, singing and dancing.
    - Learning the names and use of main local food ingredients and how to cook traditional Tanzanian dishes.
    - Learning the Tie & Dye making, sowing of dresses using the Tie & Dye techniques (Tie & Dye is a special African Fabric for sowing fashionable dresses.)
    - Taking Basic Swahili Language classes. The course aims at helping to develop basic skills in listening, writing, reading and speaking Kiswahili.
    - Exposure to local families, markets and other social and public places to practice Kiswahili language.
    - Playing with children in the afternoon in various games and sports activities.

  • Highlights

    A tour will be organised to visit local producers, suppliers and exporters of fair trade items, the local food market and farms. We will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop on "the role of culture in development". You are requested to be prepared in advance and to bring information from your country or region for sharing during the discussions.

    Cultural exchange: Each country or culture presented in the project will have an opportunity to do a presentation. Volunteers are encouraged to be prepared beforehand to present their countries and cultures. Depending on the interest of the participants, the presentation can be in the form of songs, drama, dance, storytelling, speech, etc. Make it more creative and more fun!
