The international volunteer project will be held in Voi for 2 weeks. Volunteers will come together to demonstrate the power of voluntary service in meeting critical needs of the local communities. The main objective of the international volunteer project is Construction.
The volunteers will be involved in construction of classrooms for the school students in Ghasi. The tasks include concrete mixing, plastering, floor renovation and roofing. The volunteers will also spend some time with the children, talking and playing with them.
All volunteers will first meet in Nairobi for orientation. From Nairobi the volunteers will travel together to the project site.
Voi is located in the Coast province, about 5 hours drive from Nairobi. The project site is located in Ghasi, about 45 minutes drive from Voi. Public transport is available. The closest hospital is 45 minutes drive. Markets, Post Office, Banks (ATMs), Internet and other facilities are located in Voi.
There is an extra fee of 180 Euros for participation in this project, intended to support the local hosting organization.
During the weekends, the volunteer group will visit Mombasa. There will be cultural presentations where all the volunteers will have an opportunity to present their countries and cultures. Volunteers will be free to choose presentation methods like story telling, singing, dancing, drama, speeches, etc.
