BUNAC's exciting new Intern in Britain program gives students and recent graduates the opportunity to work as an intern in the UK for up to 6 months. This is a great way to spend time living and working in Britain while gaining workplace experience which could also be relevant to your course of study or future career. Intern in Britain gives participants an opportunity to experience British life and culture from the inside. UK society is a fascinating mix of old and new and offers many attractions for young travelers. The arts, media and youth culture flourish, there are many historical and other places to visit and since Britain is relatively compact, it's easy to get around to see the four UK countries England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. For longer trips, the rest of Europe is easily accessible.

Highlights

The Intern in Britain program enables you to take a placement with an employer anywhere in the UK who is willing to offer a supernumerary internship for a maximum of 6 months. It cannot be an unskilled position and should be for a minimum 25 hours a week. The internship may perhaps be arranged by your university as part of your course requirements, via a placement agency, or one which you have organized for yourself. BUNAC does not yet find placements for you, but we may be able to offer some advice or assistance to help in your search.

All work in the UK (including internships) is subject to National Minimum Wage legislation. Minimum wage is currently Euro 5.73 per hour for someone 22 or older and Euro 4.77 for 21 or younger.

Qualifications

* Be aged 18 and over
* Hold a valid passport
* Currently be a full-time degree level student at or a recent graduate (internship must begin no more than 12 months after last period of study)
* Hold an acceptable internship offer in the UK for up to six months
* Demonstrate sufficient support funds - a minimum of USD 1,500
* Provide proof of adequate (not less than the equivalent of USD 1,000,000) medical and accident insurance coverage for the full duration of their stay in the UK (BUNAC offers an excellent policy).

Program Fees Include:

Interns must demonstrate to BUNAC the ability to support themselves financially for the duration of their intended stay in the UK. It is, therefore, important that both parties are agreed on the remuneration to be provided. Please note that all work in the UK (including internships) is subject the National Minimum Wage (NMW) legislation. It is your responsibility to ensure that the position is NMW compliant.
