BADA enables students from around the world to study classical theatre with leading actors and directors of the British stage.
The London Theatre Program is a conservatory program for students interested primarily in acting. It takes place in London during the academic year and is fully accredited through Sarah Lawrence College. Financial aid is available and, in most cases, the cost to the student is the same as a term or two terms in his/her home college.
The Midsummer in Oxford Program, which takes place at Magdalen College, Oxford for three weeks in the summer, is similar to, but shorter than the LTP. It is accredited through UCLA and is presented in conjunction with the Yale School of Drama.
In both programs, actors and directors such as Sir Ben Kingsley, Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, Kevin Spacey, John Barton, and Sir Derek Jacobi, among others, lead Master Classes on an ongoing and regular basis.
The Shakespeare Program, accredited through Skidmore College, is offered in London during the fall term and is open to students interested in areas of the theatre beyond simply acting; courses in the academic study of Shakespeare, playwriting, directing, theatre criticism and theatre history, as well as a series of Master Classes, make up the curriculum.
In the case of all three programs, the key is a total immersion in the British theatrical experience, both as students working with professionals and as discriminating audience members.
Master classes with such theatrical luminaries as Sir Ben Kingsley, Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, Kevin Spacey, John Barton and Sir Derek Jacobi. Regular trips to the London and Oxford theater. An excursion to Stratford Upon Avon. Performances (in the case of the London Theater Program) of fully mounted student productions in professional venues with professional directors which are open to the public.
