School of Arts and Sciences includes the departments of Communications, Computer Science, English and Modern

School of Education and Professional Studies is composed of four academic departments: Behavioral Sciences and Human Services;Business, Economics, and Public Administration;Education and Physical Education; Nursing. School of Continuing Education and Extended Studies serves non-traditional and adult students by providing undergraduate and graduate off-campus degree and certificate programs, and a variety of credit and non-credit professional development and personal enrichment courses, workshops and seminars Model Institute for Excellence is a ground- breaking institutional education program sponsored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in cooperation with the National Science Foundation to improve the quality of higher education with a special focus toward increasing science, engineering, and mathematics baccalaureate graduates. School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) provides support to over 16 master's level degree and certificate programs. Through SGSR, Bowie State University is able to respond to the unique educational needs of a growing diverse, multi-cultural, non-traditional student population in the Maryland-DC Metropolitan area.
