    blueEnergy is looking for talented, committed individuals to join our diverse, dynamic organization, and can offer many opportunities for meaningful personal and professional growth.

    blueEnergy is seeking a mature, culturally sensitive, pro-active individual with strong workshop and facilities maintenance skills to help maintain and improve our infrastructure in Bluefields. You will work closely with blueEnergys Facility Manager to help maintain current infrastructure standards. Organization, attention to detail, and good communication skills are required.

    Candidates must have exceptional teamwork and emotional intelligence, and be able to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

    Responsibilities:
    - Maintain infrastructure to current standards
    - Calculate and compare costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money
    - Manage mini-projects while ensuring minimum disruption to core blueEnergy activities
    - Plan for future infrastructure development in line with strategic business objectives
    - Create budgets for materials
    - Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise
    - Develop organizational setup for new office and research facilities so that we can best allocate and utilize space
    - Clean and maintain the water tank and well pump and repair or replace leaky or broken pipes, faucets, shower systems and toilets
    - Replacing locks, repairing doors and windows, minor furniture building and repairs
    - Ceramic installation and repair, cement work, may have to oversee the work of building additions
    - Electrical work may include having to replace, repair or install lights, fans and outlets.
    - Minor appliance repair
    - Painting, varnishing, fence repair, minimum gardening work
    - Maintain reporting of purchasing materials and material acquisition

    blueEnergy is an international nonprofit organization that works to break the cycle of poverty to create a world of sustainable living and opportunity for all. The organization does this by creating opportunities for sustainable development in severely marginalized communities and by developing leaders working internationally for a more equitable, sustainable world.

    blueEnergy's project headquarters are located in Bluefields, Nicaragua. There, the organization recruits a diverse, multi-cultural team of international volunteers and local and international staff. This unique organizational structure amplifies blueEnergys impact and provides the volunteers themselves with a transformative experience to help them reach their global leadership potential.
    The blueEnergy Group is made up of blueEnergy International, blueEnergy US, blueEnergy France, and blueEnergy Nicaragua.

  • Qualifications

    - Must have a good understanding of electrical systems, plumbing, masonry and carpentry
    - Preference for applicants that have a minimum of five years experience working in home maintenance or related field
    - Be able to use a computer to write reports, create budgets and do basic accounting
    - High school diploma or equivalent
    - Medium-level Spanish proficiency required

    Volunteers are asked to cover their expenses so that blueEnergy can focus its limited resources on permanent staff and infrastructure thereby ensuring the long-term sustainability of its work. For more information on why fees are charged, please visit here.

    This fee covers room, board, orientation, internet, laundry, supervision, and project-based travel. International and domestic airfares are not covered in this fee and are the responsibility of the volunteer. International emergency medical and evacuation coverage is required and is the financial responsibility of all volunteers.
