Binghamton's Semester in London offers an integrated study experience, with course work enriched by theater performances, in-city excursions, and out-of-town trips to sites relevant to course study. The internship option allows students to earn credit through career-related placements in British businesses and agencies. Internships are available to students in any major, with placements possible in government, communications, arts management, business, health care and other fields. The spring semester program is particularly designed for those with a strong interest in literature, theater, and art.
The program allows American students to study in London while maintaining most of the structure of an American university. Consequently, the quality of the instruction is not compromised to meet the constraints of a different educational system.
Binghamton and British faculty members draw on the resources of major London museums, the London theatre scene, and other attractions in England.
Courses meet in the Florida State University Centre, a well-appointed classroom facility in a handsome historic building one block from the British Museum. Each course carries four units of credit, though internships usually carry 8 and are easily transferrable to other American colleges or universities.
Courses meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, allowing long weekends for group trips and independent exploration.
