  • Description

Binghamton University's exchange program with Bosphorus University in Istanbul, Turkey offers an opportunity to explore a fascinating and important world region. Istanbul, the commercial and cultural center of Turkey, is a monumental city built on hills overlooking the Bosphorus and Golden Horn waterways. It is the only city in the world that spans two continents - Europe and Asia. Its architecture reflects its imperial past, with city walls built by the Roman Emperor Theodosius, former Christian churches adorned with Byzantine mosaics, and the enormous mosques and elaborate palaces of the Ottoman sultans. Turkish culture has a highly developed ethos of hospitality, and students will encounter a welcoming and helpful environment.

Students enroll in one of Turkey's leading institutions, taking regular university courses, living on campus with Turkish and other international students in modern, luxurious dorms, and participating in university activities. Bosphorus University is made up of four schools, Arts and Sciences, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Education, and Engineering. The student body numbers about 10,000 (8,000 undergraduates). Bosphorus University's faculty are truly international in their training, with doctorates earned from European and American universities as well as from Turkey's best institutions.

Bosphorus University is an English-language university. The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students that are matriculated with a SUNY college or university.
