No matter your age, sex, interest or skills, you can be a valuable asset to someone in need. BERUDEP enjoys the interaction with volunteers of all nationalities and know that both parties can learn so much from the exchange. BERUDEP is a self-funding Cameroonian organisation who can't afford to pay the wages of international volunteers but provide help wherever possible with information and support.
The Homestay Experience
This is the first of its kind in Cameroon, you choose the village, the number of days, the occupation of the family: crop farmer, cattle herder etc.
How do people from Cameroon cook their meals? Where do they get their water supply from? How does a polygamous family run? Do all children go to school?...
A Day in the Life of the rural Cameroonian:
(An example of what your day might hold)
* Arrive and meet the officials of the town
* Meet the family and eat together
* Walk through the village and meet the relatives and neighbors
* Walk for water with the children
* Pound fufu-corn for dinner
* Shop at the local market
* Walk to the waterfalls and caves
* Ride horses and milk cows
* Take a bucket bath
* Talk and roast corn around the fire pit
* Listen to the stories from long ago...
Everyone likes to do their holiday a different way. If you are an artist wanting to paint, a poet wanting time out to write or an enthusiast who wants to pack in as much as possible, we can give you the space and experience you want. Tell us what it is you expect to see and do and we will match your requirements as much as possible.

You will not be charged a fee if you are helping out with BERUDEP work and will only have to pay for your own personal living expenses and travel to Cameroon.
