A-CLUB was founded in 2003 by 3 friends who hiked and biked Beijing extensively. They began taking visitors with them, and by word of mouth, the A-CLUB grew. To accomodate friends and visitors from around the world, DOWNTOWN BACKPACKERS was opened in June 2004. For a fraction of what travel agencies and tour companies charge, visitors can now stay and experience the best of Beijing and its environs. Today it continues to grow, and the more than 20,000 visitors have hiked the wall with A-CLUB.

Location

We are located in a quiet neighborhood now preserved by the Beijing government as a cultural heritage. Surrounded by courtyard houses and narrow lanes that date back to the Yuan Dynasty (1200’s) it is the ideal location to experience the true Beijing. Hear the peddlers selling their wares, listen to amateur opera singers Practice Tai-chi in the early morning, Join a fan dance, or grab a sword. Two of Beijing’s picturesque city parks are a stroll away, Hou Hai, or Back of the Sea, is a 10 minute walk. Fish or ice skate, Depending on the season. Hou Hai also offers the trendiest restaurants and night life in the city, at reasonable prices, Walk just 30 minute (faster by bike) to the Forbidden city and the public bus are rear by to take you to The Temple of Heaven and The Summer Palace.
