Beechmount Country House, near Hawkshead, Cumbria, provides bed and breakfast accommodation in a lovely part of the English Lake District. It has been awarded a Enjoy England 5-Star Gold award.
Beechmount is a turn of the century built home that was planned and designed to maximise the views of Esthwaite Water and the surrounding fells and valley. Views that extend as far as the Langdale Pikes and that give a real feel of the Lakeland landscape that surrounds this beautiful house. The design incorporates the full use of natural light in every room. This enhances even further the ambience of the arts and crafts era in which the house was designed.
The property has recently been refurbished to provide accommodation to the highest standards of luxury by Denise and Garry Schofield whose previous experience in holiday letting has proved invaluable.
Beechmount is located between the picturesque village of Hawkshead and Bowness on the ferry road (B5285) on the edge of the village of Near Sawrey, the hamlet made famous as the home of Beatrix Potter. Hill Top, the Tower Bank Arms public house and other aspects of the village are featured in many of Beatrix Potters works. Indeed the house was leased for a year, in 1915, by Miss Potter for use by her mother.
For walkers there are many low level walks that lead to some of the less populated areas of the fells with most leading to the larger village of Hawkshead that boasts at least four good pubs that provide food.
There is easy access to Beechmount from Bowness and Hawkshead and ample parking is provided for guests. A bus timetable is posted in the village 150 metres from the house and buses run at regular intervals during the year.
