Bastyr University is one of the world's leading academic centers for advancing knowledge in the natural health sciences. A thirty-year pioneer in natural medicine, Bastyr continues to be in the forefront of developing the model for 21st century medicine.
Campus Setting
The Bastyr campus setting is uniquely suited for the study of natural health sciences. The grounds, well-watered by the Pacific Northwest rainfall, stay green most of the year. The burgeoning herb garden draws students to learn, get their fingers in the dirt or just admire the aesthetic beauty of nature's medicinal plants.
Adjacent to the University's own play-fields and gardens are miles of wooded trails winding from the 316-acre St. Edward State Park to the shore of Lake Washington. The park has a secluded beach and a natural habitat where coyotes, eagles and spotted owls find refuge. The park also includes outdoor volleyball courts, tennis courts and play-fields available to Bastyr students, faculty and staff.
Beyond the Classroom
Many Bastyr students dream of extending their studies beyond the U.S. borders, and the University offers many ways to help students to fulfill that dream. Bastyr's "venture grants" are one option. The grant awards give students a chance to develop innovative projects that will expand their knowledge of medicine and benefit the communities they visit. See how a few proactive Bastyr students are involved in transforming the health and well-being of the human community.
