  • Description

    Teaching assistants in any academic area Teaching computer skills Coordinating after school programs (sports, music) Assisting housemothers in dormitories Nursing / Medical students to help in the school clinic

    Help out in the Hearing Clinic that the school offers to the people of the Ashanti Region. May also be asked to help in the school medical clinic.

  • Highlights

    This specialized school currently house's, feed's and teaches roughly 500 students from the Ashanti Region who are hearing impaired. The school offers many different opportunities for the student's to learn different trades such as woodcarving, cloth dying, kente weaving and many other specialized tasks. With the help of volunteers the school is looking to expand the children's knowledge into more activities such as computer science. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to run after school activities with the children such as football (soccer) practice, basketball, badminton and many other sports!

    Willingness to work with children. Knowing sign language would be an asset, but is not essential.

  • Program Fees Include:

    Upon arrival in country our staff will pick you up at the airport and return you to our Orientation Center for a safety briefing and general country orientation. For this program you are required to complete one - 4 weeks of language training and orientation which is included in the cost of the program. At the end of that week you will transfer to your placement to begin volunteering. Our staff are available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you require help of any kind.

If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support. Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries.
