  • Description

Pharmacy volunteers that come to Mab Medical Center will be of great help. Volunteer will do the following tasks:

    * Help give drugs prescribed by doctors to patients.
    * Someone who has knowledge about medicine and can help tell the patients how they should be taking their medicines, the importance of taking all medicines given to you at the hospital and on timely bases.
    * Teach people the importance of not sharing medication with other people and to take entire dosage even when not required.
    * Discuss what the drug does in the body
    * Clean out the pharmacy and make sure all drugs are labelled
    * Help with inventory to ensure that there is enough medicine at all times and that the clinic never runs out.

Pharmaceutical volunteers at Mab Medicare Clinic will also be given the opportunity to work directly with a doctor and help with patient consultations and medical prescriptions. They will also be given the chance to talk to nurses and learn about some of the challenges that nurses see with patients that do not follow medical advice.

Also volunteers will also be asked to help in the laboratory and help learn how to tell when diseases like malaria are in the blood and learn about what type of treatments are available.

  • Highlights

The hospital is in need of pharmaceutical volunteers to help them as they are short of pharmacy staff members. As a result, many pharmacy workers are required to work long hours and do not have the necessary staff to help ensure that all patients are given the appropriate pharmaceutical advice or attention.

  • Qualifications

In addition to previous training, a volunteer must have the ability to learn quickly, take on responsibility and be willing to work in a new environment. Embracing all of the above is very important for someone to be exceptional at this volunteer placement.
