  • Description

Get involved in the various social programs, providing assistance and advice where appropriate.
Help coordinate the programs and activities.

  • Highlights

Fundapadele is a not-for-profit organization that is actively involved with multi-faceted social development projects. Their central objective is to promote, drive and execute projects aimed at personal and communal success and to strengthen the bonds of society through the family, democracy and self-sustainability.

Fundapadele have built several barrios (neighbourhoods) in the outskirts of the city of Leon that make land available to those in need, specifically single mothers or widows and low-income families. Staff at Fundapadele also build schools, health centres and communal houses for different uses, such as preschools, dining rooms for infants and children, immunization centres, etc.

Along with these projects, Fundapadele also facilitates small business loans for local businesses, principally owned by women, and by doing so they contribute to the local economy. Their hope is that through these different programs, they will contribute to a more just society and the new social model that Nicaragua needs.

Most of the people living in the barrios are abandoned or single mothers supporting their families alone. They work in the fields, in the market or any where else they can find work. The children of these women are looked after in the community houses by other local women, who are responsible for as many as 14 children a day. Because these women have little to no financial assistance, we need volunteers to assist and support the women in caring for the local children.
