Volunteers may be asked to write proposals to potential private and public donors, develop new and imaginative fundraising activities, raise awareness of the organization and its work at both the local and national level and increase funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the organizations aims and activities.
Volunteers may also be asked to help design and create newsletters and brochures and/or develop and coordinate web-based fundraising initiatives.

Highlights

The Arusha Society for the Protect of Animals is in need of more funding to be able to keep up with their current projects, especially the clinics and informational sessions they conduct. The organization is very busy and subsequently Mr. Masija has been focusing most of his time on the actual clinics and educational sessions. He has not had much time to plan fundraising activities or search for new donors. The work this organization does is very important to the local communities and it is important that they secure appropriate funding to ensure that they can continue to operate.
Currently, the ASPA funds their programs through private donors as well as their registration fees from members. They need help finding new members, as well as conducting fundraisers and writing proposals to receive new private or public donors.

Qualifications

Volunteers should have computer experience and be passionate about helping animals. Having a background in fundraising or business would be an asset.

Program Fees Include:

Upon arrival in country our staff will pick you up at the airport and return you to our Orientation Center for a safety briefing and general country orientation. For this program you are required to complete one - 4 weeks of language training and orientation which is included in the cost of the program. At the end of that week you will transfer to your placement to begin volunteering. Our staff are available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you require help of any kind.

Typical Volunteer

We believe everyone can contribute by volunteering. Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support. Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries.
