  • Description

Volunteers would work one-to-one with the kids and also assist the teacher in other ways at the daycare. Your work would include feeding the children snacks and lunch, organizing and helping with arts and crafts, dancing with the kids, and reading with/or to them.
You may also help out by cleaning and tidying the daycare, and/or organizing books and toys.

  • Highlights

Aldeas Infantiles SOS (SOS Children's Villages) creates families for children in need and helps them form their own future and participate in the development of their communities. They strive to ensure that each child belongs to a family and grows up with love, respect, and safety.

SOS Children's Villages revolve around the effort to give children who have lost their parents or who are no longer able to live with them a permanent home and a stable environment. The SOS Children's Village family-like structure is formed by four basic pillars: mother, brothers and sisters, house and village. Each child receives a mother, who assumes complete responsibility for the care and protection of the child. Biological brothers and sisters are not separated, and the children receive "new" siblings as they grow up with other children. The villages are made up of 12 to 16 houses, which each contain nine children and a mother. In this way, the children are able to grow up in a manner that closely resembles a family and a home as much as possible.

Aldeas Infantiles SOS is an organization that is constantly working to help distressed families in this poor location. They provide daycare as well as other family services, when/if possible. Such as, teaching planned parenthood and/or assisting children with their homework, plus more, when they are able to do so. Volunteers would be greatly appreciated at this placement, as there is always a huge need for help.

Like so many organizations in the developing world, this placement is underfunded and lacks the necessary man-power to implement its programs effectively.
