The volunteer will develop a computer basic program like: excel, word, power point for children and adolescents and will combine it with physical activities and games for them.
The volunteer will have an exclusive classroom.

The volunteer may have the opportunity to help the children with their homework during school time, help support kids with computer tools.

When a child lives in the SOS Children's Villages it is usually because after successive efforts with the family of origin it is determined that based on the interests of the child he/she should be removed from the environment as they are at risk. The SOS Children's Villages is a long term option for these children.

61% of revenues SOS Costa Rica obtains, depends on national and international donations. The sum of individuals and partner companies is vital to ensure sustainability of programs and create families that are home to many children today with no other protection from their parents.
The Computer program, would make a valuable contribution to the development of the children for their future obligations as adults. Currently, children receive primary education in public schools and in many, Computer classes are not available. Others have lessons, but to a very limited degree.

Learning computer skills promotes and stimulates enthusiasm for school and provides a valuable tool for future careers.

Qualifications

Someone who instinctively understand that teaching is all about empathising with and caring for students of diverse cultural backgrounds who have embarked on a great educational adventure. Volunteers do not need to have a teaching background but the ability to design an effective lesson plan is essential. The educational aims of each lesson must be clear, and activities should be selected that contribute to the realization of those aims. Lesson objectives should be stated in terms of student capability, that is, in terms of what the student will be able to do as a result of instruction. These objectives must specify a goal in terms of student learning and skill.

Program Fees Include:

Upon arrival in country our staff will pick you up at the airport and return you to our Orientation Center for a safety briefing and general country orientation. For this program you are required to complete one - 4 weeks of language training and orientation which is included in the cost of the program. At the end of that week you will transfer to your placement to begin volunteering. Our staff are available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you require help of any kind.

Volunteers must have Moral character and honesty. Volunteers must be well prepared for the lessons. Volunteers must have a good knowledge of computers. Physically and mentally fit for the job. Volunteer should be enthusiastic, energetic and with the stamina to work with children and enjoy doing so. The pupils should be able to enjoy the class sessions.

Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support. Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries.
