LOHADA is an organization that is dedicated to providing children under the age of 17 and elderly people who are in destitute situations with on going care. Most of the children and the elderly come from the Arusha and Shinyanga region of Tanzania.
The founders of this organization saw a need to start a programs for these two demographics because of the high numbers of children and elderly members in their community that were living in unsafe conditions and have little means to survive.
The children at LOHADA come from various background they would be at high risk of ending up living on the streets. Most of the children at their centers are either orphans or come from backgrounds where their parent(s) are either begging to survive and can not care for their children or whose mother's are prostitutes and are also unable to provide care to their children.
This placement needs volunteers who can work as a teachers assistant. The staff at Camp Moses teaches children from the center and the surrounding community, who are very young,(kindergarten and younger). The center can't afford to pay for more than 2 teachers, therefore a lot of volunteer help is required to meet the many needs of these children.
The Camp believes that by having teacher assistant volunteers participate in the learning programs for the children all will benefit. The teachers and the volunteers at the Camp, as they will be able to exchange knowledge and pass experiences plus discuss new advanced teaching techniques and skills. The children, as they enjoy meeting foreign volunteers and find their lessons much more fun and stimulating with a friendly, enthusiastic, foreign teacher's assistant.
What an opportunity for a volunteer to gain an experience of a lifetime and at the same time do some good for some children who have so little !!
Experience and enjoyment in working with young children from different backgrounds as well as adults.

We believe international volunteering promotes cross-cultural learning that helps create global awareness, understanding between cultures and provides the platform for positive change. Our volunteers have taught in schools, provided disaster relief support for the International Red Cross, conducted essential research to improve the management strategies of threatened environments, built homes for impoverished people, provided vocational training and programs for street kids and have worked in co-operation with hundreds of local organizations to distribute aid and improve the quality of life for people throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America.
