As an Web Designer or IT volunteer at the Autism Awareness Care and Training Center you will be a vital component to their team of professionals and caregivers. During your time there you will be asked to intimately learn each of the programs that they offer and develop an understanding of how this organization is making a different. You will be asked to develop new things for their website such a place to put educational information, enhance the presentation of their website and build any IT tools that you think will help this organization improve their ability to explain their goals, achievements and update the site to include information about people living in Ghana with Autism.
A web designer or IT volunteer will be asked assist in the classrooms as needed to help assist the students and their caregivers. The members of the organization believe that it is important to provide the volunteer with a deeper understanding of how the program is structured and operates.
During community outreach workshop you will be asked to join their team to take notes, pictures and possibly a short video that will then be loaded to the website.
Other potential side jobs include training the staff and parents who work at the Autism Awareness Care and Training Center about basic computer skills like how to you open office or micro-soft software. Helping them learn how to use excel for accounting, word and power point could be greatly appreciate by staff and parents.
In addition, volunteers are always needed to help the children during their meals and assist with other daily tasks at the center such as cleaning, preparing meals, changing diapers or helping assist children who need extra attention and care.
The Autism Awareness Care and Training Center is an organization that teachers children with Autism and provides them with a safe place to learn. Their aim is to help these individuals reach their highest potential by utilizing a number of different therapies to reach that goal.
The Autism Awareness Care and Training Center is looking for a volunteer who had a good understanding of computer web design and has the ability to do basic coding to help them update their website with new photos, information, statistics, goals, achievements and provide educational information about autism to more people in Ghana and throughout the world. A person who has web design and IT experience would be able to play an important role of the development of this organization.
Hiring someone to update the website is much to expensive for this organization to be able to pay for. Few people on their team have even a basic background regarding web design and various coding frameworks. The staff at the Autism Awareness Care and Training Center have so many ideas that they would like to add to their website to help achieve to achieve one of their primary objectives which is to reduce stigma towards individuals living with Autism in Ghana.
Volunteers should have experience in web development and understand basic coding principals. It is also an asset if you enjoy working with children. This placement is really designed for someone who has a background in web design and IT development. If you do not have either of these backgrounds you may want to look at the different placements available with the Autism Awareness Care and Training Center.

USD 3,245 for 8 weeks; USD 205 each additional wk.
Upon arrival in country our staff will pick you up at the airport and return you to our Orientation Center for a safety briefing and general country orientation. For this program you are required to complete one - 4 weeks of language training and orientation which is included in the cost of the program. At the end of that week you will transfer to your placement to begin volunteering. Our staff are available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you require help of any kind.

We believe everyone can contribute by volunteering. Recent graduates from high school, college or university, professionals taking a career break, recent retirees, individuals or groups who are interested in a change and the chance to enrich their own life and the lives of others. If you are 18 years or older you can apply for any of the placements available. If you are from 16-18 years old you may apply for placements near our Volunteer Abroad Office and Residence, so that we are able to give you more support. Both students and professionals are needed for placements in all our countries.
