Women Security Pressure Group (WSPG) is a non-governmental organization that strives to develop programs that promote equal rights and improved conditions for women in Nepal. The members of WSPG believe that Nepali women are entitled to the same freedoms as men and want to encourage individuals to actively work together to promote social change. Increasing public awareness is one of the key goals of this organization. Their aim is to tell other Nepali's about the challenging situations that many women in the country face and the daily discrimination that prohibits some women to live in a safe and inclusive environment.
Developing a strong sense of community and strong solidarity among women will help to increase awareness and encourage women to speak out about their experience. Through this open forum discussions about women's rights issues in Nepal can be addressed and actively perused through policy revisions, education and open-discussions. Through education and awareness programs the goal of Women Security Pressure Group is to fight against oppression, discrimination and exploitation against women.
Women Security Pressure Group has only three staff members who are responsible for managing all branch offices, volunteers and implementing their programs. They need volunteers who are interested in helping to create new programs and work with their research team to collect new data. This organization needs volunteers because they believe that one way that they can be become more effective with their campaign is by integrating different approaches and new information.
Volunteers must know how to conduct research and must have the ability to work independantly. Volunteers should have a some background knowledge in at least one of the following areas: feminism, gender issues, policy making, women's rights, Nepali history or how to write a funding proposal.

We believe international volunteering promotes cross-cultural learning that helps create global awareness, understanding between cultures and provides the platform for positive change. Our volunteers have taught in schools, provided disaster relief support for the International Red Cross, conducted essential research to improve the management strategies of threatened environments, built homes for impoverished people, provided vocational training and programs for street kids and have worked in co-operation with hundreds of local organizations to distribute aid and improve the quality of life for people throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America.
