Description

The duties include working with the owner to maintain an efficient service to the clients. Reception, showing and checking rooms, making positive connections with the clients, managing a bar, making simple lunches are all involved. This is a unique opportunity to learn first-hand the operations of running a small, 10 room hotel. Room and board are provided.

As we are located in a remote area, self-reliance and confidence are important to success here. The main attraction may be the spectacular diving and snorkeling opportunities on Costa Maya.

Mahahual has a large number of young people who live and work here so there is a social life. The village is mostly Spanish- speaking with a large number of Italians, some Dutch, Canadians, Americans, Germans and French. A very friendly, laid-back international village.

Qualifications

- We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable college or University student who has a strong interest in the hospitality industry.
- Spanish and English languages are essential although knowledge of Spanish could be at a basic level.
- Communication skills, customer care attitude and the ability to work on their own are significant to success in this job.
- An interest in marine life, ruins and Mexico are important although not essential.
- Any bar service skills or food preparation are also important but not essential.
