The College is chartered under the laws of the State of Oklahoma, empowered to grant the Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, and Bachelor of Science degrees, and to provide selected service courses for elective or terminal curricula purposes.
Accreditation means that the standards of the school are such that its academic curriculum is recognized and honored by other member institutions of the Association. It ensures the students a quality program with credits that can be transferred to other institutions.
Bacone College is a member of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the Oklahoma Independent College Foundation and Universities, the Joint Review Commission for Radiography Education, the National League for Nursing, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, and an affiliate member of the Oklahoma Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.
With twenty-nine associate and bachelor degrees, Bacone College serves its mission with integrity addressing the higher education needs of American Indians in an environment of cultural diversity Christian concern. As such, Bacone continually develops activities and programs that ensure students the guidance, support, and knowledge they need to achieve their personal and career goals.
Bacone provides effective teaching and student learning through its qualified faculty and knowledgeable administrators who work to provide necessary support services that students and faculty need to create a vibrant learning community. Bacone's commitment to quality instruction is evident in the fact that, over the past eight years, the number of full-time faculty with doctoral degrees has increased from approximately 6% to 60%. In addition, innovative teaching and advances are taking place within academic programs through collaborative agreements with outside agencies and corporations providing students with unique internship experiences. To make learning more accessible, study areas with Wi- Fi access are available in the Bacone Library and in many places on campus, providing learners with access to more than one million full-text documents accessible online anywhere in the world where one connect to the Internet. The College's affiliation with the International Learning Styles Network and our own trained and certified staff provide our students the ability to thoroughly understand and capitalize upon their personal styles of learning, helping to insure their academic success. Furthermore, the Division of Academic Support, home to the College's Student Support Services TRIO program, provides students with extensive tutoring and academic mentoring opportunities to help students keep their "eyes on the prize" of attaining their goals.
