The Island of Taiwan lies some 180 kilometers off the southeast coast of China; to the north lies Japan and The Republic of Korea, to the south The Philippines.

This makes Taiwan the ideal travel destination. Taiwan is heavily influenced by the American culture and is therefore known as the most westernized country of Asia. The development of the country has been quite parallel to the Western standards; hence Taiwan is called "the Western country with Asian cultures and backgrounds".
