The cities of Pisco, Ica and Chincha Alta in the Ica Region, and San Vicente de Cañete in the Lima Region were most affected. More than 58,000 homes were destroyed. The city of Pisco, which is 260 km (160 mi) southeast of Lima, was about 80% destroyed, and as many as 530 people living there died, with 148 of those deaths happening in a collapsed cathedral in the city's main square.

Volunteers in Pisco will help to rebuild houses, communities centers, etc, this volunteer program is for groups who are able to work in basic conditions. The labor is hard and the living condition is basic.

Please be prepared to live in a destroyed city and do not expect to be in a nice city.

This program can involve full days of work but schedules vary day to day.

    Your role as a volunteer:

Volunteers are needed to help rebuild as many as possible houses, schools, hospitals, etc for local families. The work will include various tasks such as helping to load bricks and mixing cement, demolishing the last houses and schools before they can be rebuilt, removing rubble and digging foundations for new houses.

Working hours: 8 hours daily from Monday to Friday
