  • Description

Study abroad at the University of Adelaide with GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, formerly known as AustraLearn. Established in 1874, the University of Adelaide is the third oldest university in Australia and is a member of the Group of Eight - Australia's leading research institutions. UA is proud to have over 5,000 international students from more than 90 countries. UA is reasonably priced, and has accessible accommodation. Ranked in the Top 100 universities in the world in the 2010 THES World University Rankings, UA's advanced high-quality teaching and research makes UA one of Australia's best universities. With 22,000 students UA is small enough to provide personal interaction with teaching staff, yet large enough to offer a broad range of programs and student support services.

UA is located in the popular destination of Adelaide. Founded in 1836, Adelaide has a population of 1.3 million and is the center of the economic, cultural, political and social life of the state of South Australia. It is an attractive well-planned city of wide streets and boulevards, squares, parklands and a mixture of historic and modern buildings. Adelaide is a busy and vibrant city, but unlike some larger cities, getting around is quick and easy thanks to its public transport network. Adelaide is also reputed to have more cafes and restaurants per head of population than any other city in Australia.

Adelaide is a very safe, relaxed and affordable place to live. Mercer Consulting's 2010 Cost of Living Survey found Adelaide to be the most affordable city in Australia.

Adelaide's climate is Mediterranean, with warm, dry summers and cool winters. Adelaide hosts many cultural and sporting festivals throughout the year and there is much to do in the local area including swimming and surfing at nearby beaches, and hiking and exploring the towns, villages and wineries in the Mount Lofty Ranges adjacent to the city. Adelaide also makes an excellent base for exploring the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island and the Flinders Ranges.
