  • Highlights

Sporting, social and cultural activities feature prominently in any uni student's lifestyle and that's where the ANU Students Association plays a role. The Students Association looks after all social and cultural clubs and societies on campus. We have a diverse range of groups from debating and public speaking groups, to choirs, to dancing, to comedy, to clubs promoting a particular nationality. Or you may find a less conventional club to be of your choice. Try the Slayer Society where Buffy fans congregate or Club Go, which regularly initiates coffee crawls and big nights out, or even the Ancient Arts Fellowship.

But if you like the outdoor life, then you will be even more thrilled with what Canberra has to offer. Grab a few friends to go away for a day or a weekendwhitewater rafting on the Murrumbidgee River, abseiling in the Brindabella Mountains, bushwalking, mountain biking, mountain climbing, canoeing, fishing, skiing, horse riding. The Sports and Recreation Association also hosts other specific sporting clubs, so if youre into tennis, badminton, soccer, rugby, AFL, rowing, aikido or a range of other sports, come along and sign up. There are also a wide range of facilities available to students such as the Dojo and Multi Purpose Room, Fitness Center , sporting grounds and ovals, Indoor Climbing Wall, boat sheds, Sports Hall, equipment hire and squash and tennis courts.

The ANU Student Union is one of the premier venues in Canberra and regularly hosts live international and national bands. The city and nearby suburbs of Manuka and Kingston are packed with nightclubs, theatres, cinemas, pubs, restaurants and cafes. Theatre, drama, music and art, along with annual student reviews, have been prominent both on campus and in the city.

Each year ANU international students get the chance to experience Canberra and surrounding regions through our events and activities program. From Day Trips to BBQs, bush dances to valedictory functions there is a lot to do. Examples of some of the excursions Study Abroad students can participate in include: Outback Experience Day Trip, Canberra Bus tour, Mount Kosciusko ( Snowy Mountains ) excursion, Blue Mountains Day Trip, Canberra and Region Wine Tasting excursion, Sydney day trip, Melbourne trip, and many more.
