Spannocchia's Farm Internship Program is dedicated to enriching the lives of young people by providing them with a unique, educational experience on a community-oriented organic farm in Tuscany, Italy. Tenuta di Spannocchia's 1100-acre pastoral estate serves as an active model for responsible stewardship through collective effort.
Program participants learn about the Italian language, local cultural history, local ecology, conservation, sustainable forestry practices, animal care, and organic farming and gardening by means of hands-on work experience with local Italian farm staff, and structured educational endeavors such as twice-weekly language study, weekly educational presentations, and bi-weekly field trips that are interspersed throughout the workweek.
Applicants must complete an extensive application process. They must be 18 years or older at the time of application. No farm work experience necessary, but a willingness to learn is a must!
250 education fee and 30 membership fee
The Internship Program provides Spannocchia's farm operation, called the Azienda Agricola, with a willing and able base of workers who each contribute approximately 30 hours of manual labor per week in exchange for room and board. Participants pay a 250 education fee to offset the cost of educational and cultural activities offered during their three-month internship. Participants must also join the Spannocchia Foundation - student membership is 30.
