Study in beautiful Andalucía at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas and the University of Granada in Spain! The picturesque university city of Granada will captivate you with its mountain vistas and palatial Moorish architecture, its unique spirit and its poetic echoes while you spend a semester or academic year studying Spanish language skills and various other courses.
Academic Program
The Arcadia University program is based in the historic and charming neighborhood of el Realejo, and Arcadia program students according to their level of proficiency in Spanish, have the option of taking courses at the faculties of the University of Granada (superior-level students) or exclusively at the University of Granada's Centro de Lenguas Modernas.
Students at all levels of Spanish can be accommodated in Granada. There are several program options available (from beginner to superior language levels) and students may choose to study for a semester or academic year. Students choose from a wide range of courses, taught in English or Spanish, in language, literature, environmental and Islamic studies, as well as area studies and culture. More advanced students have the opportunity to enroll in fully integrated courses at the Universidad de Granada.
All students take an initial four-week course in Spanish language. The students coursework is determined by the students level of Spanish language proficiency. Students will be placed in Spanish language at the appropriate level based upon the results of a placement exam administered during orientation in Granada.
The Centro de Lenguas Modernas is housed in the lovely 16th-century palace of Santa Cruz and is renowned for its Estudios Hispanicos (Hispanic Studies) and Cursos de Lengua y Cultura Espaýola (Spanish Language and Culture) programs. Besides being one of Spain's premier institutions for international students, the CLM serves as the University's center for the teaching of foreign languages to its own Spanish students. This gives international students ample opportunity to interact with Spaniards through various programmed social activities or language exchanges, or while enjoying a coffee in the Center's busy café.
Before you go, you can contact our program manager for advice on the application process, choosing courses, housing or simply what you should pack. Once you arrive, our resident director will lead an orientation program that will introduce you to the culture, history and politics of Spain as well as preparing you for the academic challenges of studying in a different educational system. During the semester, you can expect to participate in excursions that are designed to allow you to reflect on learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
You can count on The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University to secure housing for you in a student apartment or with a host family. All housing is easily accessible to the University and to the Centro de Lenguas Modernas by foot or public transportation.
