Location
Costa Rica: Heredia
Program Duration
2-4 weeks
Dates
Choose your dates between June 10 and August 11!
Experience the daily life in a small Costa Rican town! Heredia is located just 20 minutes outside the capital of San Jose, but has a rural feel to it. The heart of Heredia is the parque central, where you will find historic buildings, churches, a cultural center, the post office, shops and restaurants.
The Classes
Your classes will be held for three hours every weekday afternoon. With no more than ten students per class, you will have plenty of opportunities to participate and practice. The focus of the classes is to take your communicative skills to the next level and help you speak Spanish more fluently outside the classroom.
Cultural Activities and Excursions
Begin your days with a trip to a waterfall, a community service project, or a lesson in Costa Rican cooking. Weekends are reserved for full-day and overnight excursions. Depending on the week of your stay, you may visit the fiery Arenal volcano, the beautiful sand beaches of Isla Tortuga, or the Punta Leona rain forest. All activities are designed to give you deeper insight into Costa Rican culture and to let you explore the natural beauty of the country.
The Homestays
A homestay with a local family is the best way to gain authentic insights into the everyday life and culture of Costa Rica. Breakfast and dinner are included in the homestay (you will have lunch at the language school).
Student Feedback
It was a once in a lifetime experience. My language skills have grown stronger, and my understanding of other cultures has as well. I felt like I was part of something real, not just a tourist. Although I was in Costa Rica for only a few weeks, I know it will always be a home to me.

Andeo (pronounced Ahn-DAY-oh) is not a word we took from another language or an acronym. Our name is a way of making communication between the people from different places and cultures in our network a little easier. No matter what your native tongue is, you won't find it difficult to talk about Andeo. Our name is a small, but important piece in our mission to foster cross-cultural friendship and understanding through homestay exchange programs.
