AmeriSpan - Volunteer in Peru

Peru
Share |

Location
Peru: Cusco

Program Duration
5-8 weeks, 9-12 weeks

Typical Duration of Program
5-8 weeks

  • Description

Peru shares borders with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile and the Pacific Ocean. The country has three distinct regions: A narrow coastal belt along the Pacific, the wide Andean mountains and the Amazon rainforest. Peru is renowned as the land of the Incas, but many great Pre-Columbian civilizations flourished. Visitors can see the ancient ruins of the Inca capital of Cusco and explore the lost city of Machu Picchu as well as ruins from a variety of other cultures, including the Nazca and Moche.

Volunteering in Peru gives you the opportunity to stay for a while in the fascinating city of Cusco. Cusco is not only the ancient capital of the Incas, but also home to magnificent examples of colonial architecture. At most projects you'll work 4 to 6 hours per day, leaving enough free time to explore the endless sights. Examples of work you can do in Cusco are: Working in an orphanage, being a role model for at-risk youth, exercise and play with handicapped children or improve your language skills chatting to the elderly. There are some professional opportunities in a travel agency and at a micro-credit agency.

  • AmeriSpan Study Abroad's Mission Statement

Our mantra is "Every Language, Every Culture, Everywhere." AmeriSpan Study Abroad has over 15 years experience and over 30,000 past participants. Our staff has three passions: language, culture, and travel. Individually and as a group, we have accumulated experiences and knowledge related to these passions. AmeriSpan's staff has traveled to more than 65 countries, every continent except Antarctica, speak 10 languages, and we are happy to share this enormous amount of relevant knowledge with you. Every staff member has studied and/or lived abroad for extended periods of time. We are neither a language school nor a travel agent, we're a hybrid of the two: a language travel organization. AmeriSpan has evaluated hundreds of schools, host families and destinations to determine which programs to offer, and our independence allows us to give you unbiased evaluations of these programs. Our pledge to our participants is to make going abroad 'worry-free'. There is no risk in choosing an AmeriSpan program because you'll get the best program, best price and can cancel for any reason and get a full refund on every dollar we have received for your program.
